New Cottage in the Family...

A new home to one of our sons & soon to be daughter-in-law. But only "new" to them as this home is rich with history built in the 1940's, came with lots of bees, coats of wallpaper to take down, and rooms to come alive again...and a yard to clean up for nature to thrive...very charming indeed...

Look what was uncovered when a tree was trimmed up. Are those the marking of a woodpecker? These little indents can be seen all the way up the tree's bark.
If you would like to read more about the "who" in the family is making a splash~ doing this renovation go here:
Hope you had a nice weekend!

I will have to do research on woodpeckers...I can't figure out for the life of me~ why they do this!

Now that's a lot of "peckin'" going on... the tree has these little pecks all the way up!

There home is just so charming.

Woodpeckers peck because there are tiny insects that they eat which is hidden within the wood. I use to do volunteer work taking calls for the wildlife rehab center here in MN and I use to get a ton of calls about annoying woodpeckers. LOL

I absolutely love that house. Do you think your son and soon to be daughter in law would consider a trade??? =)

I'm just loving everything I've read about this cottage, Gigi! I hope you will keep us posted on their progress. That is really a neat looking tree~if it was a woodpecker, he wasn't going to miss a spot!

Will be looking for further updates on the sweat equity put into this home.

Can't wait to see the end result, though the house looks like it's in great condition.

I've been trying to remember what bird makes these marks since I first read this post! I finally remembered the other day...the sapsucker!
