Name that Girl!

Just for fun...This actually is an old advertisement from a magazine. This Lux soap ad features a relative of mine-- Can you name this 1940's movie star? She was on film, married to someone famous, was in the original movie "Little Women"---okay that 's it for now. Do you know?

If you do...something is coming your way- What? I am still thinking about that :), but it will be something you can enjoy!

Post Script: I have an interesting story about this beautiful lady you just might find interesting...hint- Gone with the Wind, a man who walks with a stick....

***************************************************

Post Script II: Well that was fast! Joanna Schmidt from Product Body guessed "Who's That Girl?"

How did you do that? I was expecting this to run at least a week! There are two stories here: 1st---about Paulette Goddard- she was my grandmother's 1st cousin, and at one time she was married to Charlie Chaplin. At this time, she won the role of Scarlett O'Hara of "Gone with the Wind", but Charlie was sooooo jealous of Clark Gable (swoon) that he won't have it! So, the role went to Vivian Leigh...

Okay- now 2nd story---I received the sweetest email today from Joanna's daughter Nina- she wanted to see a pic of me- I really never thought about posting a pic of myself before (not wanting to run anyone off....). From this I learned that she had also had a b-day this month, so does my own daughter (St. Patty's Day)...& they even had a close relative that was called "Gigi"...very touching indeed. So, this brought me to the pic (you see above of Paulette Goddard), I had been meaning to post this pic for several weeks now, and when Nina emailed me, it reminded me of my own grandmother & relatives & decided to post the pic to see if anyone would know/remember about this grand lady in the Lux soap ad...

And IF I remember correctly-- Joanna has mentioned something about her fav color is green....Well sweet memories of loved ones, birthdays, & the color green, St. Patrick's Day & a very beautiful charming young tween named Nina--- sure makes a package going to be sent to the Schmidt household soon...:) Full ad with Paulette Goddard in a Lux Soap Ad

Yep! You've got it! Paulette Goddard...

Paulette & my grandmother were 1st cousins...so their grandmother (father's side) was my great grandmother...

Now the story. Paulette Goddard was married to Charlie Chaplin. At this time, she won the role of Scarlett O'Hara, who would play the lead role in Gone with the Wind... Well, Charlie was very jealous-and won't have it! So, the role went to Vivian Leigh.

Look's like something is coming your way! I'll post the details...I think this was meant to be :)

What fun! That era was just a bit before my time, but boy were they glamorous back then.

You can still buy Lux soap from the Vermont Country Store catalog, I believe.

The link to Lux soap at the Vermont Country Store is http://www.vermontcountrystore.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=31697&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=729&iSubCat=806&iProductID=31697 but it's so long that it's probably just as easy to go to http://www.vermontcountrystore.com and type in "Lux" in the search box. ;)

The last time I used Lux must have been in the late '60s. I'm pretty tempted to try it again just to take a trip down memory lane.

Teresa- Thank you! The link sure did show the Lux soap, and mentioned it was used by the "stars"! It is out of stock/ or as it stated "unavailable"---but now I am going to search around---I just have to have some!!! :) Many thanks for the info.

I just googled her Carrie. I seen her name/face on a page with all the greats: vivien leigh, ava gardner, laurence oliver, etc... She's gorgeous.

Nice challenge you did :)

Gigi what a wonderful picture. I love it. The funny thing is my Dad has owned hotels and motels for the last 30 years and the last time he was down he brought me two full cases of bar soap. Guess what the brand was....Lux. LOL
