Canadian Geese came by thousands to rest on Fishing Creek... I called my parents because their dog "Sam" LOVES bird watching...So they made the trip to stay with us this past weekend. But what happened was a bit of a surprise. Yes the Canadian Geese were there- and we enjoyed their beauty- even their chatting... AND then the next morning they were gone-poof! Thousands of them had moved on... BUT what moved in was very unexpected... hundreds of beautiful white swans... it was magical and I'm happy my parents were here to share this with us...

wow! that's really cool!
They look very white, Carrie; maybe they were snow geese? I know snow geese tend to descend upon Bombay Hook (a national wildlife refuge in Delaware) in the thousands. They are beautiful and wild to watch!
Well, after a night's sleep and some coffee, I realized I misread your post...LOL! I think I need more sleep and coffee. ;)
I think I was confused because I couldn't really see any Canada geese in the photo (except for 2 in the center that had the neck/face markings). My son thinks the swans are probably tundra swans because of the beak color and also because they winter in your area of Maryland. They could possibly be mute swans (but their beaks are orange colored).
Whatever they are, they certainly are magical! =)
Teresa! You and your tadpoles are some of the coolest people.... Could I possibly rent their service, of knowledge, for the spring, summer, fall and winter--there is SOOOO much I want to learn about the wildlife around here....
Yes- I think they could be tundra swans- I looked up snow geese- and I thought-maybe- but their back appears that of a swan....
HUGS TO YOUR SON!!!!!!
OH~~Carrie what a beautiful and magical thing to witness!!! I'm glad your parents were there too.
Hugs,
Ginger
