Not Just An Old Apron...

This is my grandmother's apron. My mother's mom. I am lucky enough to have it- considering it must be over 50 years old (or more). With this apron are memories beyond it's worn tie strings, and frayed seams...

For years growing up, twice a year, my family would make the 300 mile trip to Garden City, Long Island to visit my grandparents. I remember my grandmother greeting us at the door, wearing an apron, wiping her hands dry, to hug us all.

I couldn't tell you what style of clothes she wore in the 60's, I simply don't remember- I only remember the apron- the same one shown in the picture above.

Do you have a favorite apron? Memories of something you own from a loved one of the past?

My sister got me an apron a couple of years ago. Granted, I'm not much of a cook, but when I do cook, I wear my apron. I really think it's cute! Your grandma's apron is in amazing shape. It's so pretty :)

Thanks Sue! The pattern on my grandmother's apron is still seen here and there.

P.S. I don't cook up a storm anymore that the kids are married :( BUT I love to wear an apron most days ---to hold my cell phone :)

What a lovely apron! I always forget to wear aprons when I bake and get stuff all over my clothes. Ugh. LOL!
